Fight week has arrived!

Hey guys,

So fight week has arrived and I’m ready to go! I touched down in Vegas yesterday from LA along with my brother Haroon and conditioning coach Ruben Tabares. Now I’m here I just can’t wait for Saturday night to come around, I’m ready to win those world titles!

Yesterday was spent mostly relaxing when we got here - I’d done all my training for the day back in LA before leaving. I did a media roundtable for all the British press who are in Vegas covering the fight but other than that it was mostly a chilled out evening. The same can’t be said for today though!

I did my early morning track run at 5am just before the sun came up - it’s the best time to work out. I also had a great time talking with so many of you on the live chat with HBO Connect earlier on, I hope you guys enjoyed it because I liked answering all your questions.

The main thing we had earlier today to kick-off fight week though was the Grand Arrivals at the Mandalay Bay. Both Danny Garcia and myself met the media and fans and it’s just wetted my appetite for the fight. I’m really raring to go because I’ve not stepped into the ring since last December, for me it’s been an age and I’m just ready to go in there and take care of business.

I know Garcia is going to be up for it, but I really believe I have his number. The work we’ve done over the last 16 weeks is going to payoff in this fight.

Once the Grand Arrivals were over it was off to the boxing gym where I did a few rounds with Freddie on the mitts and we talked about the final pieces of the game plan for Saturday night. I believe my speed and power are going to be too much for him. He’s a good opponent, and someone who I respect in the ring, despite all the trash talk that’s been coming out of his camp but I don’t think he will be able to live with what I’m going to throw at him – it’s going to be too much.

For me as a fighter fight night seems to take an age to come around. Any fighter will tell you when they get into this stage of camp they just can’t wait for the big night to come around. We’ve got a lot happening in the lead up to Saturday, things like the media workout and press conference but my eyes are only fixed on July 14th.

I know Garcia and his camp are going to say a lot of things during the week but they’re just going to be stoking the fire for fight night. I’ve not forgotten what’s been said and I’ll be using that energy in the right way.

I’m hope all you guys back in the UK have been enjoying the preview shows that Sky are putting out all this week, details are on my website. They were with me during my camp and got some great behind-the-scenes footage that I’m sure you’ll all love.

This is a really important fight for me and one that I’m not overlooking. I’ve always wanted to add the WBC belt to my collection and to have it on the line with my old WBA belt makes this fight even more special. Saturday July 14th is going be a great night for British boxing and I’m going be coming home with the belts.

Stay tuned to the site for the daily blog during fight week and for a host of exclusive pictures.
