Counting down the days

Hey guys,
The countdown has well and truly begun, we're so close now, only 3 days away after what has really seemed an age since I was last in the ring.
For a fighter this stage is all about making weight. I never struggle to make weight which means I don’t have to drain myself like some have to do but it's always important to check your weight on a regular basis so you hit it bang on when the weigh-in comes around.
I've changed my diet since my new conditioner Ruben Tabares has come in and I'm eating only organic and natural food now. My diet wasn’t too bad before but now I’m learning about why I’m eating certain foods and what benefits eating or drinking a certain thing will have on my body. I’m feeling better than I’ve ever felt before and that’s down to all the good food I'm taking in.
I can see the benefits that Ruben’s brought to the camp, not only in my diet, but also in terms of my overall conditioning. I'm punching harder than I have in the past but I’ve still got that killer speed - one of my key assets. Even Freddie has commented on how hard I’m now punching so it’s great to see that power now added to my armoury.
The hype and interest around the fight is beginning to grow here in Vegas. I did the media workout today and there was a great turnout from the press and fans which was fantastic to see. I always like to do public workouts because it gives everyone an insight into all the hardwork that we do behind closed doors.
The biggest news today though was that I have now been reinstated as the WBA ‘Super’ light-welterweight world champion and also that the Ring Magazine title will be on the line this Saturday. So I’m going into this fight knowing that I could once again unify the division with three of the most recognised belts around.
This gives July 14th even more significance and has made me even more determined to prove that I’m the best in the 140lb division. To be able to unify the division once again, after all that has gone on in recent months, will mean so much to me. I’m going to make sure that I bring those belts back to Britain with me and I’m going to do it in the best possible fashion.
We’re halfway through fight week, I’ve still got the press conference and weigh-in to go and then I’ll be lacing up my gloves. After the media workout I did a private session away from the cameras just so we could go through the plan for Saturday and work on a few surprises for Garcia.
I spent the early morning working out as well just doing a few fitness drills but when I’m not training I like to just relax in my hotel room with family and friends. Earlier in the week I’ll meet a lot of friends but as the week wears on I get into that fighting mentality and like to limit everything just so I can prepare in the best way for the fight.
I have a stack of DVDs that I like to chill out and watch just to take my mind of the fight. I’m always relaxed in fight week because I have a great team around me and this camp is no different.
